Chrysler Lebaron Idle Problem

Q. I have a problem finding the idle speed adjustment on a 2.2 liter 4-speed Chrysler Le Baron. I have searched all over and just can't see it. I want the idle and hope that you can either give me a hint as to where to look for it or a place to search online for this information.

  1. 1987 Chrysler Le Baron (not a turbo)
  2. 2.2 Liter
  3. Manual (4-speed)
  4. 100,000 miles
  5. Fuel injection
  6. Not ABS brakes
  7. Power steering

Thank you for your help!
Stan

A. There is no external idle speed adjustment on that engine. The idle speed is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on 1987 to 1995 models. 1987 - 95 models require a "Throttle Body Minimum Airflow Check" to check for any idling problems. To do this, you will need a very expensive piece of diagnostic equipment. If there is an idle speed problem, and the throttle body fails the airflow test, it will need to be replaced.
