Squeaking Acura Integra

Q. Hi, I have a small problem with my car. There is a squeak that comes from my left wheel well somewhere when I'm driving. It's usually only when I'm going from 20-30 MPH, and then when I'm slowing down. I know it's not the brakes, though it could be the rotors as they are slightly warped. I talked to a few professionals about it and they said it most likely is not the rotors though.

It also sounded like it could be a pulley at first, but again, it's only when I'm moving. I guess it's more of an annoyance, but I'd really appreciate it if you could help me. I love my car to death, don't want anything major to happen to it. Here's the car's info, thank you in advance.

  • 1991 Acura Integra GS
  • 1.8 liter DOHC
  • Manual 5-speed transmission
  • 200,000 miles
  • Fuel Injection
  • ABS
  • P/S, A/C, cruise control
  • Rack and Pinion

A. There's a number of things that can cause the noise you describe. Squeaks are usually caused by dry bushings of bad shocks and/or struts.

What you can try is spraying all the bushings, control arm, stabilizer bar etc., and see if that gets rid of the squeaking. When you spray them, bounce the car up and down to get good penetration. You may have to do it two or three times over the course of a month or so.

If the noise doesn't go away, you will have to determine which bushing is making the noise and replace it.
