Honda Accord LX Brake Rotors

Q. I have a 1992 Honda Accord LX and need to resurface the front disk rotors. Since I have done this before on other vehicles I didn't think much about it until I removed the wheel and brakes, etc. There does not appear to be the typical cap, cotter key, etc., but instead a metal piece covering the nut with a portion bent in.

I'm probably being as clear as mud. Can you tell me how to remove the rotors? I have a Haynes manual that says it covers 1992, but the description does not seem to match. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks...

A. To get those rotors off you will need to disassemble the whole hub. The Honda dealer or a brake shop has a machine that will resurface the rotors right on the car. If they are scored then you should take it in to get the rotors resurfaced.

Otherwise you can give the rotors a good sanding with some 400 grit emory cloth to knock most of the glaze off and install the brake pads. If there is no pedal pulsation you'll be alright. If there is a pulsation, then get the rotors resurfaced.
