Toyota 4-Runner Highway Noise

Q. Dear Sir, I have a 1994 Toyota 4-Runner. Every time I drive on a freeway (at least 50 mph) I hear a noise (thud, thud, thud) coming from the front wheels (I don't know which wheels or both doing it). When I take my foot off of the gas pedal it disappears, once I depress it again it makes the annoying sound again.

I have no problem when applying the brake on this SUV, it's quiet. Could the rotor be bad? Lateral runout? Disc dishing? I do a lot of freeway driving and it annoys me.

Thanks for your help.

A. About the best I can off you is to suggest putting it on a lift and looking at the steering and suspension. Something may be loose or broken. If it's 4WD there may be a problem with the hub, front axles or transfer case.
