Hard Starting Honda

Q. Vincent, I need help!!! I have a great mechanic that I truly trust but after four trips to his shop I am starting to doubt his ability to solve my starting problem.

My 1991 Honda Accord EX has been having starting problems for over one year. It is very common during start that I get an engine light while the engine is turning over and it usually will not fire. Generally after several attempts it will start normally. After a short period of this my car died while I was driving and would not start.

Mechanic diagnosed and replaced both the ignition coil and igniter. With several weeks the car started to have the same trouble but would always start. I took it in again and the mechanic replaced the distributor assembly. Within a day or two it started up again.

I does not seem to make a difference if the car is cold or hot. On very few occasions if I pump the accelerator it will fire off but that is very seldom. I have also had the engine light come on and the car start. I need some help.

Thanks so much,
Bryan

A. Print out this article and take it to your mechanic. Honda Main Relays and I'll bet he'll fix the problem in no time at all.
