Ford Explorer Questions
Q. Vincent, I have a 1995 Ford Explorer XLT, 86,000 miles, 4.0 liter, 4x4. There are three question I have with respect to the truck.
1. Will a sealant such as Bars Leak® stop an outside head gasket leak or should replacement be in order?
2. Where is the ballast for the third brake light located?
3. Ever since recall replacement of the anti sway bar pins in the front, there is a banging when hitting road bumps. Is this a side effect of the change?
Thanks for your help.
SteveA. 1. With that many miles Bars Leak® is liable to do more harm then good to the radiator and heater core. Replacement of the head gasket would be, in my opinion, the best way to go.
2. There is no ballast for the third brake light.
3. The banging noise would be a side effect if the guy who did the recall screwed up. I would take it back and let the look at, and fix it.
