Chevy Lumina Rear Brake Replacement

Q. Hello Auto Guide. I am the owner of a 1992 Chevy Lumina 3.1 liter V-6, automatic transmission, A/C, with 212,000 miles on it. Recently my rear brakes pretty much just "died." I was told that I would have to replace almost, if not all, of the rear brake system. I was wondering how I would go about doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Alan

Chevy Lumina Rear Brake Replacement

A. This should have the rear disc setup on it. The calipers used to seize up on their slides quite often. I would look into rebuilt calipers for both sides as well as a new set of pads and rotors and both rear brake hoses.

A Chiltons or Haynes repair manual will give you a step by step for this job. Of you can go to the Public Library and in the reference section they will have the manuals for your particular vehicle.
