Toyota Camry Starting Problem

Q. I have a problem. 1987 Toyota Camry 52,000 miles. The car acts like it is out of gas, but its not. When it sits over night it has a hard time to start. When I go to give it gas it sputters and spurts like the engine is being chocked of gas. Then it stalls. But what is weird, when I go on the highway this corrects the problem.

So I think the fuel filter may be clogged up or the fuel injectors may be clogged. I did use Gumout fuel system cleaner it didn't help. What do you think?

A. Tomorrow morning when you go to start your car, do this. Turn the key to the ON position but do not start it. After five seconds turn the key OFF then ON again. Do this five or six times and then try to start it. If it starts right up, then the check valve in the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator could be bad.

I would have a fuel pressure test done to confirm which it is for sure.
