Door Lock Repair
Q. When I recently locked myself out of my 2000 Chevy Prizm a friendly police officer stopped to render assistance. Unaware that the lock was protected, the officer loosened the thin bar attaching the lock to the inside handle.
I'm convinced that I can fix this problem myself but can't manage to get the interior door panel off. I've removed the inside panel connected to the side mirror, removed the handle and well, popped the armrest and unscrewed the two bolts there, and popped the plastic holders all around the panel. What's thwarting me is the manual window lever which seems impossible to remove without breaking and a stubborn pin close to the rear view mirror adjuster. I would appreciate any help you could give.
Thanks,
GyenA. There is a horseshoe shaped clip on the window lift handle. There is a special tool for these. It should be available at any auto store. You could get a paper clip and straighten it out. Put a small 90 degree bend on one end and try to hook it onto the clip and pull it out. Good luck!
