Toyota 4 Runner Moon Roof Cable Q. Hi, I have a 1990 Toyota 4 Runner with 190,000 miles on the engine. It runs fine. My question is about my power moon roof that just stopped working today. It actually was open a little but I got it to close by hand. My question is; is there a manual or site I can refer to, to repair the moon roof myself?

The motor is working when I push the open switch or close so I'm assuming that the cable might have broken or what ever it is that closes the moon roof. I just need advice on how to take it apart to replace the parts that failed. Please help, I live in Boston and it's pretty cold right now.

A. I don't generally recommend this as a DIY job since it requires the removal of the moon roof and head liner. I send these out to a body shop.

You can get a body manual at the local public library, in the reference section, that will have the procedure for replacing the moon roof cable. If you think you can handle it, go for it.
