C280 Air Pump

Q. I have question on how to replace an air pump because my car's air pump needs to be replaced for some reason and the labor is killing me. My car is a 1996 Mercedes Benz C280. So can you please add a portion in DIY on how to replace an air pump?

A. Not very many cars have air pumps anymore, but I will consider it for a future DIY article.

In the meantime, I assume you need to know how to do it right now, so here is the procedure. It is really very simple.

Take off the air pump connector (arrow) and shaped hose. (125/3)

Remove bolts 105/1, 125/1, 125/2 and 125/12 and remove the air pump. Check the rubber mounts and replace them if needed. Hell, replace them anyway, they're cheap.

To install the new one, reverse the installation procedure.
