Smoking Firebird

Q. I got an 1989 Pontiac Firebird with a 305 carberated V-8 engine with 135,000 miles. When I stop at a red light, I have my heat and A/C shut off. My car starts smoking and it smells like antifreeze at the back of the engine passenger side. Do you think I have a leak somewhere or do you think I need a new head gasket???

Dan

A. Sounds like you may have a coolant leak. You should have it pressure tested to find the source of leak. Possibly a heater hose, heater core, intake gasket or head gasket.
