Chevy Blazer Upside Down Fuel Gauge

Q. I have a 1988 Chevy K5 Blazer, 5.8 liter V-8, 4x4, automatic transmission and 90,000 original miles. Had been running great. I started it one morning without a problem until I put into drive when it just died abruptly. When it stopped running the fuel gauge needle moved to a completely upside down position. I am not really sure where to start or if I even should, if it is electrical. Any advice would be great.

Thank you,
Todd

A. Now you need to diagnose it. Sounds like it cranks but doesn't start. First, check for spark at a plug wire. If yes, check for fuel at the fuel injectors and that they are pulsing. Fuel pressure? Possibly a bad fuel pump or rotted sending unit in the fuel tank.
