Ford Radio Removal

Q. I have just bought a 1994 Ford Probe GT. I want to change the stereo, but I can't figure out how to remove the factory stereo If you could help me with this that would be great.

Thank you,
Demetrius

A. There are two ways the radio is secured into the dash, depending on the style of radio. One is secured using screws and the other is by retaining clips that require a special tool to remove.

If it is held in by screws, you need to remove the center cluster bezel and you will then see the four radio mounting screws. Remove the screws and slide the radio forward. When it is about ¾ of the way out, tip the back up so the rear retainer will clear the frame.

If it has the retaining clips you will have to go to Ford and get radio removal tool number T87P-19061 to remove it.
