Plymouth Sundance Won't Blow
Q. Dear Sir, I have a 1994 Plymouth Sundance, 2.2 liter manual transmission, 150,000 miles. The fan for the air and heat isn't working. I replaced the blower motor, must not have been the problem. I know the resistor block can cause trouble, but can it be the cause of the blower motor stop working completely?
The only other thing I can think of is a wiring problem. I'd really appreciate any help/suggestions you can give me.
Thank you,
DustinA. Normally I would say that if the blower motor resistor was bad, the blower motor would still work on high speed. But Chrysler is a little bit different. They run high speed through a resistor in the blower motor resistor. I would check fuse #7 (30 amp) in the fuse box and make sure it is not burnt out. That supplies power to the blower motor.
If the fuse is good, check for power at the dark green wire at the blower motor. If it is, ground the tan wire at the blower motor. The blower motor should start working. If it does, everything up to and including the blower motor is good.
Now check for power at the tan wire at the blower motor resistor. There should be power there. Grounding it should cause the blower motor to run. If it does, you're good so far.
All that is left is the control panel and the wiring from the resistor to the control panel. If the lights in the control panel work, then you probably have a bad control panel.
