Chevy Camaro Fuel Gauge
Q. The gas gauge does not work correctly. When I fill up the tank, the gauge goes beyond the full mark by about a quarter tank. And as I use up the gas, the tank is completely empty when marking a quarter tank. A friend of mine suggested the sending unit filter may be dirty. He took down the gas tank and checked the sending unit and told me all works fine.
He says it must be the gauge in the dash board that is not calibrated, but he has never worked on the dash of a Chevy Camaro and did not offer to fix this for me. Is it possible the gauge is "off" and if so, how do I set it correctly?

- ABS Brakes

- Rack and pinion steering
Thanks in advance,
SergioA. 95% of the time, a sender in the tank fails before the dash unit. There is a tool out there that can be installed on the fuel sender wire at tank. You send 90 ohms through the wire and tank should read full. 45 ohms is half. 0 ohms is empty. I could be wrong on the amount of ohms but the principal remains the same. There are many bulletins out for erratic fuel gauges and most relate to the tank unit.
