Jaguar XJ-6 Brake Brick

Q. I have a 1988 Jaguar XJ-6 with P/S, P/B, A/C, automatic transmission, 6 cylinder engine. This car has a system that uses mineral oil for the brake booster and rear shocks (self-leveling system). The problem I have is the brake pedal, when applied, is like stepping on a brick. The car also pulls hard to the left. If I have a bad booster, how can I know for sure.

Thanks...

Jaguar XJ-6 Brake Brick

A. If you have owned this car for any length of time I'm sure by now you know nothing on this car is simple or cheap.

The chances of it being a bad Hydraulic Brake Booster are pretty good. But before I went ahead and replaced it, I would want to do a pressure check on the pump, just to make sure I have the proper pressure. If the pressure is good, then replacing the Hydraulic Brake Booster is in order.
