Ram Suspension Problem

Q. Hi, I have a 1994 Dodge Ram. I don't know if you know much about air suspension but I have it on the Ram. It has been fine for the past three years or so. Recently the tires started wobbling really bad sometimes. Not all the time. Feels like the wheel is going to come off. I checked to make sure everything is tight and it was.

I took it to a local tire store and they replaced the idler arm. It seemed to have fixed the problem until I had the front end aligned the next day. Started shaking again. It is at the tire store right now and they said everything looks fine. Everything is tight. What could cause this. The truck doesn't have front shocks on it because I have the airbags. I wouldn't think this could cause a problem because it hasn't had shocks since I got the air suspension.

Also last year, I hit a rubber weight in the road that those big orange barrels sit on. I don't know if this bent something but when I think back that's about when the problem started. Any help would be appreciated.

Donnie

A. I have never dealt with an aftermarket air suspension system so as far as that goes, I can't help you.

I can tell you there were a couple of recalls on the front suspension and a number of TSBs issued dealing with front end and suspension problems. So I would take it to the dealer and let them have a look at it. They have probably come up against this problem many times.

Another thing you might try is taking it to a body shop with a frame machine and see if the frame or basic structure is bent any where.
