Acura Integra Hard To Start

Q. Hello Vincent, I have a 1994 Acura Integra and sometimes it is hard to start. The engine cranks fine but it slowly stalls. I had it checked by a Honda mechanic and he said that the ECT sensor was bad and the cap and rotor were worn out. So I got the ECT sensor changed at a local mechanic because he was lot cheaper, $500.00 less. But the problem has not been solved.

The mechanic is now saying that changing the cap and rotor won't help and he doesn't know what it causing the problem. I don't know what to do. I would really appreciate your advice.

Thanks,
Vamsee

A. There must be more to this then what you are telling me. Replacing the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) would only cost $80.00 at the very most. And that is dealer prices.

There are a lot of reasons why your car would be hard to start. I would want to see a complete tune-up with spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor rotor, distributor cap, air and fuel filters. I would also give the throttle chamber a good cleaning. This alone could very well take care of the problem.

I would also like to see the fuel pressure checked to see if it drops to zero overnight.

You would have been better off sticking with the Honda Dealer, even though they are higher in cost, the car would have been fixed correctly.
