Dodge Neon Water Intrusion
Q. 1997 Dodge Neon. I have a pool of water in my car. My trunk has had moisture coming in ever since I have owned the car but it was only a tiny bit. With in the past few weeks it has been raining non-stop here and I started to notice a moldy water smell in my car. I checked the trunk and it was dry.
So I asked around and some friends said it might just need a new seal around a window (at this time it only appeared to be a tiny amount of moisture.) However today when I went to get in my car I noticed water on the floor of the drivers side. Then I look in the back and both sides of the floor have a pool of standing water. I go over to the passengers side front and it has started moving up there as well.
However the carpet coming up the and right around the door is dry, leading me to think it's no the door seals. I popped my trunk and it was dry...but then I think to lift up the floor covering to my spare tire and it's flooded too. Could all this flooding simply be bad seals on my doors and/or trunk??? Or could there be some kind of hole in the floor of my car that water is coming up from???Thank you for your time,
JenniferA. Water leaks are hard to find in any car Jennifer. The best way to find a water leak is to sit inside the car with a flashlight while some sprays the car with a hose. They should aim at door joints and around the window seals. There are no known water intrusion problems with that car so a good hosing and a sharp eye is what's needed to locate the intrusion.
