Itaska Motor Home Timing Marks Q. I have a 1986 Itaska motor home on a P30 chassis. The engine is a 454 cid. My question relates to ignition timing, and where would the timing marks be, and how do I recognize them? I would appreciate any help you could give me on this item. Thanks, Ron

A. The timing plate is located on the timing chain cover, right above the harmonic balancer. There is a groove across the harmonic balancer the is used to time the engine.

You will probably need to clean the harmonic balancer and timing plate in order to see it. Some white paint or tire chalk inside the grove will make the timing mark easier to see.
