Buick Needs A Belt
Q. I have a 1997 Buick LeSabre with a V6 motor and needed to change the fan belt. After looking at the situation, it seems that the belt cannot be replaced without removing the motor mount. Could this be right?? If so, Why would GM do such a thing?

JohnA. Yeah, the mount does have to come out to change the belt. As to why GM would do something like this, well, I don't know. It could be a case of one engineer not knowing what the other is doing. Lack of any other way of doing it or just plain bad design.
