Honda Civic EX DTC P0452

Q. Hello, My question is my check engine light is on and my scanner reads out code P0452. This tells me it is the FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR. On this vehicle where is it at and how do I get to it? Also if you think it may be something other then this what might it be?

  • 1996 Honda Civic EX
  • 1.6 liter SOHC
  • Automatic transmission
  • 108,000 miles
  • Fuel Injection
  • ABS brakes
  • P/S, A/C, Cruise control
  • Rack and pinion steering

Thanks so much,
Rick

A. DTC P0452 indicates a low voltage problem in the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS). What the fuel FTP sensor does is convert fuel tank absolute pressure into electrical signals and inputs the signal to the ECM/PCM.

First thing to do is make sure the gas cap is good and tightened properly. Then check the vacuum lines and wiring at the FTPS to be sure they are good, clean and tight.

Barring a wiring problem it can be a bad FTPS or PCM.
