Hyundai Accent Interference Engines?

Q. That timing belt chart linked to you has all Hyundai's as interference engines. My 2001 Hyundai Accent has California emissions and states inspect only. Is that chart up to date? How do I find out if engine is interference or not. From manual it appears a no interference type else they would, I hope, state replace. Any advice?

Thanks...

Hyundai Accent Interference Engines?

A. All Hyundai engines, L4 and V-6 are interference engines. The Hyundai 60,000, 90,000 and 120,000 mile service menu simply states:

Timing Belt
For California vehicles, this maintenance is recommended, but not required. For those vehicles, Inspect timing belt and related components. Replace any found to be faulty immediately.

For my own piece of mind and since it is an interference engine, I would recommend replacing the timing belt at the 60,000 mile mark.
