Toyota Door Won't Open

Q. I have a 1989 Toyota Cressida and I have not been able to open the rear driver door for some time. I have power locks, and all the other doors work but this one. I don't know if my grandsons got something jammed in the door or what. I don't know how to go about taking the door apart to see what could be inside or to even get it open. Any help you could give?

Thank you in advance for your time,
Adrian...

A. This could become expensive to repair. If you can't manually move the lock button to open the door the lock solenoid is probably jammed solid. Sometimes your dealer can get lucky and be able to open the door with a "slim jim" and then replace the solenoid/latch assembly. ($300.00 part) If the door won't open in this fashion the door panel has to be removed to get at the latch from the inside of the door. Being that the door can't be opened, the panel must be removed from the inside with the door closed. This often results in ruining the door panel in the process of getting it off. Let your dealer diagnose it and they will warn you that you accept responsibility if the panel is damaged in the process.
