GMC Yukon Transmission Flush?

Q. Hi Vince, I have a 1992 GMC Yukon 4X4 5.7 liter with 125,000 miles. I would like to know how to flush the automatic transmission and torque converter fluids? I had them flushed 35,000 miles ago and would like to tend to this myself. Can you tell me how?

Thank you,
John

GMC Yukon Transmission Flush?

A. Most quick lube places can do this a lot cheaper than you can. It's just not possible to remove all the transmission fluid from this transmission. A machine hooked up and running can remove 12 quarts and install 12 new quarts but it will never get all of the OLD oil out. A simple drop of the pan to replace the filter and about 6 quarts of fluid should do the job nicely.

I don't recommend engine or transmission flushing. All too often they cause more problems than they cure.
