Olds Cutlass Supreme Timing Chain

Q. I have a 1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme, 3.1 liter V-6 with 103,000 miles. When do I need to replace by timing belt or chain? Also, the car is still running well but has a couple of dents and the paint is peeling badly. I am debating about replacing this car. I have changed the oil pretty much every 3,000 miles, how many miles do you think I can get from this Olds?

Olds Cutlass Supreme Timing Chain

I have heard paint peeling is common with GM, do you have a recommendation for getting a paint job? I have talked with small local body shops and they are quoting about $3,000.00. I do not think I want to put this kind of money into it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!!
Mark

A. This engine has a chain and should be OK for life. Haven't seen one break yet. As for paint, try a local tech school and see if they are interested in a hands on car or try your local MACCO or Earl Shieb.
