Chevy Astro Van Fuel Problem
Q. Vincent, I have a 1993 Chevy Astro van code W engine with automatic transmission, cruise control. It is central port injection. My problem is it is hard to start when cold. It will start after about a dozen tries, but will not accelerate well. I have change the all parts in the distributor, all new plugs and fuel filter.
The fuel pressure comes up to 58 psi when key is turned on, but when it starts it fluctuates between 42 to 52psi very fast when I try to accelerate. I don't know if I have a bad fuel pump or pressure regulator. Can you help me please?
Thank you,
JamesA. The real question is; what does the fuel pressure do after the pump stops running? If the pressure bleeds down slowly you have a leak and it's probably the regulator which is part of the CPI unit. Pressure should be 60 psi and hold when car is shut off.
