Dying Dodge Neon

Q. Hi, my name is Amber, I have a 1998 Dodge Neon. It has an automatic transmission and 90,000 miles on it. Well I was reading through some of the questions that you had already answered and one came up with the exact sane problem exept on a different car. It was the dying Dodge Caravan. My car does the exact same thing. Some times we can go all day without it dying and sometimes we can't get 10 feet down the road. I really need some help.

Thanks...

A. The advice is still valid in your case. To wit:

"Before you start replacing parts hoping to fix the problem, you want to do a couple of tests. First test would be for fuel pressure. You need to know if the fuel pressure drops when it dies. If it does, then you need to see why. If there is power to the fuel pump when it dies, then it is a bad fuel pump. If the fuel pump loses power before it dies, then it is probably a bad Auto Shut Down relay. A very common problem with this vehicle."
