Toyota Motor Mounts

Q. I have a 1993 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder, I would like to know how to test the motor mounts, how many are there and how do I remove them.

Thanks,
Jaime

A. Counting the transmission mount, there are four. One on the front of the engine, one between the engine and firewall, one between the engine and radiator support and one in back or the transmission.

Replacing them is a just a matter of supporting the engine, removing the mounting bolts and pull them out. Checking them is mostly visual. You can put the car on a lift and use a pry bar to see how much play in them, but as long as they are not broken they are okay.

I have found that the mount from the engine to the radiator support tend to break quite often.
