Pontiac Grand Am Cold Start

Q. Hello there. I've got a problem with my car I'm hoping you could help me with. I've got a 1990 Pontiac Grand Am with the 2.5 liter 4-tech motor. I just got this car for free. It's got 103,000 miles. The problem I'm having is hard starting when it's cold. It cranks for a long time before it'll finally starts.

Once the car's been warmed up, it starts right up. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and also the intake air temp sensor. I've given it a complete tune up and it runs great. It just has a real hard time starting up for the first time each day. I checked for diagnostic trouble codes and the computer is not displaying any. I hope I've given you enough info.

Thanks for any response,
Donnie

A. Most likely it's a fuel pump not coming on for it's 2 second prime when you first turn on the key. Try listening for a click under the hood when key is turned on. If you don't hear it, it could be a bad relay or the ECM is not giving it it's signal.
