Honda Main Relay? Not This Time

Q. Dear Vincent, I have a 1988 Honda Accord EXi that has a starting problem in warm weather, and it also stalls at lights and stop signs sometimes. This inconvenience lasts from about the start of July to about November.

It starts cold every time, say when I wake up to go to work, but if I make a stop for gas or coffee, it might not start when I come back out. I took it to a Honda dealership and they said to replace the main relay, I did and the problem continued. After that they told me to replace the computer, so I had a used one put in, and it still had the problem.

I have since tested the coolant temperature and air intake sensors - they work, the injectors work, the coil works, I have vacuum pressure. Everything I can think of is working correctly (the engine turns but doesn't catch), do you have any suggestions for me?

Thanks,
Can't start in Canada

A. The next time it happens, pull a plug wire and check for spark. If there is no spark then I would think it's a bad Ignition Module.
