Ford Expedition Is Not Too Hot

Q. Hello Vincent, I just got a 2003 Ford Expedition 4.6 liter 4x4 with manual A/C controls. The ventilation system (both front and back) is fine except one "minor" problem. When I put it on Max A/C, the front unit puts out cold air BUT does not respond to changing the temperature setting to WARM or HOT. The air coming out of the front registers just gets very, very slightly warmed.

The rear is fine. In fact, the front temperature control works fine except in Max A/C setting. When I try to switch from regular A/C to Max A/C (with temperature setting remaining in HOT), the register air remains warm/hot but only for about one or two minutes, then it starts cooling down. I suppose I should bring the vehicle back to the Ford dealer but I'm concerned they might start tinkering around and do more damage. Any information you can share with me is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you,
Rory

A. The dealer would be our best bet. I don't have a lot of information on that truck yet. I do have a couple of TSBs about this problem, but they pertain to passenger cars and not to your truck. I'm sorry I don't have a lot to share with you.

If I had to guess, I would say that either the temperature blend door is binding or stuck. Or the electric A/C blend door actuator is bad.
