Pathfinder Power Door Locks Revisited

Q. Thank you for responding to my question about power door-locks on my 1992 Pathfinder (10/23/01). I have repaired part of the problem and can now open the driver door with my key from outside.

The power locks continue to confuse. The fuse is good but the system is still temperamental. It seems the system is temperature sensitive. I live in Phoenix and in the morning when temperatures are cool the locks work like a charm. As temperatures rise the locks do not work. In early December I was at the Grand Canyon in a snow storm for two days and the locks worked like a charm the entire time.

Help!
John

A. I remember the question and I'm glad you got the drivers door, at least, working with the key.

Usually a temperature related problem like this is due to a loose or dirty connector. So the only thing you can do is go over all the connectors and make sure they are clean and tight. Another common problem with Nissan is the master switch in the drivers door. You can try to find one in a junk yard but it is such a common problem that they are to find.

Another possibility is the aftermarket alarm you had installed. It is possible that something with that is causing the problem. That I can't help you with and the people who installed the alarm would have to troubleshoot it.
