Draining The Tank

Q. I have a 1988 Dodge Aries with 119,000 miles. It's the 2.2 liter auto, with calif emisssions. The car has been sitting for over a year. It ran like new when first parked. When I tried to start it, the computer was saying it couldn't read the signal from the pick-up coil and it was cutting off the power at the auto shut down relay, so I wasn't getting any juice at the coil. I replaced the pick-up coil, still got the same reading. I couldn't find any shorts so I brought a re-built computer. Before I put it in, I was told I need to drain the gas since it was sitting for well over a year.

My question is, How do I drain the gas???

A. Since that gas tank has no drain plug, that leaves you two options. One, use a hose and siphon it out or two, drop the tank and drain it. Personally, I would siphon it out, it's a lot easier. Then go to the gas station and get some fresh gas and put it in. If you have a five gallon gas can, I would recommend two trips.
