Mercedes Benz C220 Money Pit
Q. Dear Vincent, Hopefully you can shed some light on the most recent problem I'm having with my 1994 Mercedes Benz C220. I bought this car used three years ago at 60,000 miles and have since spent approximately $6,000.00 on repairs. (This includes a rebuilt transmission and a valve job and numerous other repairs such as the cruise control, fuel pump, you name it, I've had to replace it!)
My present mileage is 92,000 (13,000 on the rebuilt transmission) The Mercedes Benz dealer has been unable to diagnose a very noticeable vibration when I am in drive at a stop sign. It's so annoying that I put the car in neutral. The car is going into the shop again in a few days to check on why my ENGINE LIGHT is on. I had the engine mounts check a few months ago and they are supposedly still okay.
This car has been a money pit! I take excellent care of this car, never miss a tune-up or oil change and only burn good gas. Is the C220 a turkey or am I just unlucky?
Michelle
Frustrated First Time Mercedes Benz OwnerA. Even though the C220 is an entry level Mercedes Benz and not one of their best efforts, (I always thought the C stood for Cheap) but I would think that it should have been better than what you've indicated.
There was a TSB issued for "Shakes, Misses, and Dies at Idle" It's number: DDAF07_07-U-6700AV dated: 09/21/1999.
