Oldsmobile Cutlass Flashing Dash Light
Q. Good Day to you Sir: I am having a problem with my 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL. It is a 3.3 liter V-6 with fuel injection, P/S, cruise control, A/C and has 110, 000 miles on it. The problem I have with it is that when I start it, the temperature light starts flashing and the fan turns on as if the engine is overheating then the car stalls.
The car is not hot at all and I don't know why it thinks that it's overheating. The fluids are all filled so I can't seem to put my finger on the problem. Can you help?
Thank You in advance...
A. First, you need to find out who is lying. Either the temperature sensor is bad or a wire is shorted to it. There are two temperature sensors. One is for the computer input. The other is for the dash light which is where your problem is.
The dash temperature sender is most likely in one of the cylinder heads coolant jackets. Unplug it to see if the problem goes away.
