Mazda 626 Turn Signal Problems

Q. Vincent, I have a 1993 Mazda 626 ES, V-6, automatic transmission, power everything, 159,000 miles. I started having a little problem and I thought maybe you could tell me what to do. The warning light that indicates an electrical problem has started to come on after about five minutes of driving. When this light is on, and I turn on the left turn signal, the turn signal indicator light does not blink or come on but the high beam indicator comes on and blinks like the turn signal indicator is supposed to do!

Mazda 626 Turn Signal Problems

The right turn signal works okay. Everything electrical about the car appears to be working correctly except for the left turn signal indicator. I can turn the car off, back on, and the warning light will go out for about five minutes and then come on again. But the problem with the turn signal indicator remains. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Michael

A. The possibilities depend on what the lights are actually doing. When the high beam indicator starts flashing, do the turn signal lights flash? Or when the high beam indicator lights up, do the high beams flash with the turn signals or alone?

I would tend to think the headlight switch is bad internally, causing the turn signals to cross circuit with the high beams.
