Increasing Ford F-250 Fuel Economy

Q. Hello, I have a 1996 Ford F-250 4x4 with a 460 engine and automatic transmission. I bought the truck about nine months ago. Now I didn't buy it for the gas mileage, but is there anything I can do to help it out a little bit? When I first got it, it was getting about 11 mpg. Now it's down to 8 or 9 mpg.

Increasing Ford F-250 Fuel Economy

I think it changed when I did a tune up on it. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor, air filter. Would an air intake kit do any good for me? Is there anything I could do to get the mpg up a little bit? It has plenty of power.

Thanks,
Ben
