Honda Axle Pricing
Q. I wanted to know the cost to have someone replace a front axle on an 1988 Honda Accord. I was quoted approximately $300.00 parts and labor by an auto mechanic.
Also, is there a way to get a repair quote online? At www.kbb.com you can get the blue book cost of a car just by clicking the choices. It would be nice if you could get a repair quote just as easily.
Thank you,
JustinA. I agree, it would be nice to get a repair quote on line for a repair as easily as you can find out your cars value. But, alas, it's not so. Compiling a estimating guide (and it is just estimating) is a time consuming process and it is not cheap. A complete set of parts and labor estimating guides cost over a $1000.00. Not something that anyone would want to give away.
Alldata offers a subscription service that has a labor and parts pricing guide as well as repair information. For one make and model it is $29.00 a year and is a wealth of good information.
As for your particular car. it's about 3.0 hours labor and, ball park figure, about $100.00 each for two rebuilt axles. So the quote you got is pretty good.
