Dodge Intrepid A/C Fittings
Q. The above car had its air conditioning serviced by a service center because it stopped working. It was leaking and he repaired it. The next day after it was serviced, it stopped working and we brought it back. The detected leaks had their O-rings replaced, but two of the connections require a 2-piece spring lock repair kit, 5/8" line, that he cannot find.
Four Seasons is the brand name, part no. 16868. He indicated that they don't make them any more. I've searched as well and have come up empty. Right now, we're out $175.00 and the only option that we have is to find this repair kit or replace the compressor and hoses at a cost of $400.00. The two kits are $20.00 a piece and he indicated that the need to be the two piece.
Do you have an alternate solution or know where one of these kits can be located? The garage doing the work is Larkin Service Center Trenton, NJ 609-882-9890.

Thanks,
PeterA. I'm guessing that this has an aftermarket A/C system in it. If it was factory A/C parts would not be a problem. From what I can infer from your description, it sounds like the two lines that attach directly to the compressor are the problem. If that is indeed the case, I'm afraid I can't offer you much help locating the fittings you need.
If the fitting is between new lines, you can have new fittings installed. Most radiator shops can install new fittings on your present lines and save you the cost of new lines.
