Honda Accord Not Cranky

Q. Hi there, My car is a 1999 Honda Accord LX, 2.3 liter, Manual, with 66k. It is fuel injection. Two days ago it would not start on first turn of the key. The problem got worse, I would have to turn the key once, wait a few second, turn again and it would start. And now the car will not start at all. I get dash lights and radio, no problem.

The (original) battery has an indicator that indicates it is fine. I don't have any device to actually check the battery charge however. All the same I have tried a new battery, but no luck. A couple of months ago I took the car in for a recall on the ignition switch. Could that be causing it? If not, is there anything else I can do before I get it towed to the nearest mechanic?

Thanks!
AJC

A. I think the first thing I would check is to see if there is power going to the starter when this happens. Best way to check that is to put a test light on the small terminal of the starter and seeing if it lights when you turn the key to the START position. If there is, then you have a bad starter.

If not then the ignition switch would be the next thing to check. But, personally, I think it's a bad starter.
