Heater Core

Q. My Monarch is a 1976, 302 V8 with air conditioning. My problem is I need to get to the heater core and can't figure out how. Could you give me information on replacing the heater core? Would really ease my headaches.

Thanks,
Garry

A. The whole heater box has to come out to replace the heater core in that car. The first thing that needs to be done is to evacuate the A/C system which requires special equipment.

This is not something that I would recommend as a DIY job. Your best bet would be to take it to a shop that A/C recovery equipment and let them replace the heater core. The is a job best done by a professional.
