Mercedes Benz ML-430 Oil Filter Q. Hello Vincent, I have a few questions about my 2000 Mercedes Benz ML-430. The first question is where the oil filter is on my SUV. All my other cars and SUV's had the oil filter located under the engine but on the Mercedes Benz ML its not there. I think it is located on top, close to the fans. Am I right?

Next question is scheduled maintained. I have read that on year 2000 and newer it is covered at no cost to the owner but I haven't contacted the dealer about this.

I replaced one headlight bucket and noticed that there is a fog light section to the headlight system but there was no bulb. I do have a fog light switch but it doesn't turn light up when I push it to the on position. Now my question is do I need a fog light relay for the fuse box, not to mention I would need bulbs but how would I get these fog lights to work?

A. The oil filter housing is between the power steering pump and the engine. You simply unscrew the cap and change the cartridge. I recommend doing this before draining the oil because a lot of oil will drop down into the pan.

As for the free maintenance, you will need to contact your mercedes Benz dealer for details.

As far as the fog lights go, the fog light relay should be there even if the bulbs are not. I would pop in a couple of bulbs and see what happens.
