Buick Regal Is Flooding Out
Q. I have 1992 Buick Regal 3.1 liter V-6, automatic transmission that started dying when it was warm, so I replaced the ignition module. That seem to fix that problem, but after a couple of days the car started running rough. I noticed gas in the oil. I thought it might from when it was stalling and trying to start it. So I changed the oil and sparks plugs witch looked flooded.
Car started right up but ran rough so I checked the oil again and it was full of gas again. I do not know what to check now. Please help.
Thanks in advance,
GlennA. You need to have the fuel pressure checked for leaking pressure after shutting off. You may have a bad fuel injector that is sticking open and allowing it to flood the engine and oil.
There is also a fuel pressure regulator valve that is bolted to the fuel rail near the oil fill cap. There should be a plastic vacuum line on it. Pull this line off and see if the diaphragm is ruptured. If so, fuel will come out of the hole and the regulator will need to be replaced.
