Her Truck Backfires

Q. My truck has less than 31,000 miles on it and it is a 1998. It has been missing and occasionally back firing since February. I thought maybe the fuel injectors were clogged so I put an injection cleaner in it that my husband bought at car quest. Then a month later we did it again.

Her Truck Backfires

Then a month later I put a whole system cleaner by STP in it. Each time it helps for a couple of days. It shouldn't need a tune up yet should it? Someone suggested a fuel filter, but where is that located? The old Chevys were easy to find. Where are they now? Or should I try something else?

Thanks...

A. Since my ESP is not working today and I don't know what kind of car or truck you have; I would say at 31,000 miles and five years old it's due for a servicing. I would recommend a full tune-up, including the air and fuel filter, before I go looking for something else.
