Pontiac Parisienne Leaking Coolant

Q. Problem: There is a big puddle of antifreeze on the ground located at the back middle part of the engine just about a foot back from the front tires. I have replaced the radiator, water pump, and the two main hoses coming and going from the radiator over time. When I look with a flashlight back behind the engine all I see is a little antifreeze setting on top of the engine but I don't know if it is leaking around there or if that is just run off from another place.

I thought that maybe it was the engine drain plugs or water jacket core plugs leaking, but I am not sure if that is it because for one thing I don't know were to locate them. Do you have any ideas of were the leak is coming from and how to fix the problem?

  • 305 cid
  • Automatic Transmission
  • 209,138 miles
  • P/S, A/C, Cruise control

Thanks,

A. Take it to a technician and have him pressure test the cooling system and tell you what is leaking and how much to fix. Then you can base his price as to how hard the job will be and if you can handle the repair yourself. Sounds like it could be an intake manifold gasket, cylinder head gasket or a freeze plug between the engine and transmission.
