Chevy Cavalier Stops And Stalls

Q. 1995 Chevy Cavalier. The car is automatic, 4 Cylinder, fuel injected with a throttle body, front will drive. If I run the car hard down the interstate, get off onto an off ramp, start slowing down, the car will die. It will crank again, but when I put in drive and mash the gas it will die again. Finally on the third time. I can get the car to go.

It has done this three times already. What do you think it could be.

Stacy

A. I suspect you have a bad torque convertor clutch solenoid. If this is bad it will cause a fairly violent shudder when slowing down to a stop after a cruise aver 45 miles per hour. The car will start but as soon as you put it into reverse or drive it will stall again.
