Honda CRX Blowing White Smoke
Q. I have a 1989 (UK spec) Honda CRX si. It's blowing white smoke, a lot when cold, and then not too much warm. The oil looks fine, and the water looks clear? The head gasket looks okay, and the plugs are okay? I am getting all sorts of different answers but don't know what to do? I'm not all that good with the engine but know some stuff, and cant afford big bills from garages!
What can I do to find out what the real problem is and how do I deal with it? It's just had a recon on the top end and I am thinking that it will go away soon??
Cheers,
Paul
UKA. White smoke means anti-freeze is burning. The fact you see more when the engine is cold and diminishes slightly as it warms up makes me think the head gasket is blown. You can do a compression test on the engine to confirm or deny this.
