Monte Carlo Idle Problem

Q. I have a 1995 Chevy Monte Carlo Z-34, 3.4 liter, with 89,000 miles. When started after sitting over night, it starts right off but after that idles down to about dying then jumps back up. It keeps fluctuating. Once you get it on the road and warmed up it usually runs pretty smooth.

I don't know a whole lot about cars, but I am questioning it being the EGR valve. If you can help me I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jill

A. I had one of these last winter, drove me crazy. After a cold night, open the hood, start it up and grab a can of carburetor cleaner with a spray straw on it. Spray on intake area. I'll bet the intake gasket is sucking air and it will run good while you are spraying the carburetor cleaner. It will need a new intake gasket. Not too difficult.
